Last night was my first official server (aka waitress) shift, and I kicked ass! There were no fiascos of any kind. They gave me two tables at a time instead of the usual three so I wouldn't be overwhelmed at first, but to compensate for fewer tables, I AVERAGED 28% in tips! That's incredible! They loved me- I was so friendly and conversational :) What I've learned so far: during the week, it's mostly older people and families, who tip well. I can't expect to average that much every night, but as I get more tables the money should increase. Woohoo- the month-and-a-half ordeal of applying, interviewing, and training is finally starting to pay off!
